What is CMS?
CMS is an acronym for Content Management System, referring to the creation, modification, archiving and removal of
information resources from an organised repository (ie. database). A CMS usually includes tools for
publishing, format management, revision control, indexing, search and
retrieval.
To
have a dynamic website means you have a Content Management
System. Standard websites can use "out-of-the-box" CMS frameworks
such as Mambo. Though powerful, these systems usually offer a
limited choice of ways to customize them. Treading outside of
those boundaries is problematic. If your business requirements
are sensitive to your User Experience, including ease of use, special
functionality, and unique design, you probably require a custom CMS
solution.
Large software companies such as IBM, BEA,
and
many others sell customizable Content Management Systems starting at
$250,000 USD up
to millions of dollars, and require teams of specially trained
individuals to design, operate, and maintain. More economical
solutions are available, but all Content Management Systems have
limitations, and choosing the right one for your website is paramount
to achieving success with your Web Strategies.
We have custom design and built our own
Content Management System, called COSMOS. for more information,
